Job Summary
Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery while performing safe nursing care in the immediate postoperative period. Initiate IVs, monitor vital signs, and ensure operative consents are signed and correct. Document all findings, communicate with physicians and family, and educate patients on procedure and follow-up. Continuously assess post-surgical patients to determine discharge readiness and report condition changes immediately. Maintain professional competence through continuing education and participate in other assigned duties. Requires active MS nursing license, BLS certification, and perioperative experience. Located in Flowood.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nursing License
- licensed to work in MS
- general clinical competency in acute patient care
- aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters
- ability to gather pertinent medical history
- ability to provide concise instruction for pre-operative care
Desired Qualifications
- Nursing experience in a perioperative setting
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
