Job Summary
Conduct routine administrative and clinical tasks to support urological services and keep medical offices running smoothly. Greet and prepare patients, measure vital signs, and record interviews, histories, and chief complaints. Provide patient education on medications, disease management, and special diets. Perform phlebotomy, basic lab tests, EKGs, and assist with X-rays and therapy procedures. Assist physicians with exams, administer authorized medications, and change dressings or apply bandages. Prepare patients for examinations, perform new patient work-ups, and update medical histories. Ensure accurate documentation, maintain patient logs for lab requests and treatment orders, and manage prescription ledgers. Open the office in the morning and close in the afternoon, maintaining back-office flow and room turnover. Complete patient confirmation for next-day visits and assist in orientation of new personnel. Adhere to attendance criteria, HR policies, and compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and CMS guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience (based on State regulation requirements)
- 6 months experience working within a physician's office
- Urology experience
- Ability to perform well in stressful situations
- Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR, Practice Management Solutions
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Project Management
- Vendor relations (for those MA's that are required to order office and clinical supplies)
- Database management
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Regularly adheres and supports compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned including, but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA & CMS guidelines for Parts C & D on General Compliance and Fraud, Waste & Abuse
- Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly
- Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts
- Respects and acknowledges the organizations commitment to cultural diversity, which is expressed through behavior, language and actions
- Consistently demonstrates good use of time and resources
- Adherence to HR, & Corporate policies and procedures
- Ensures that all medical records are accurate and complete for all patients

- Ensures appropriate consent form is completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms
