Job Summary
Asbestos Remover will operate out of Davisville Yard in Toronto, performing site preparation and removal of asbestos/mould contaminated materials, including chiselling, scraping, sweeping, shovelling and bagging in accordance with strict procedures and government regulations. The role may involve general labouring duties such as removal of MMMF and occasional snow removal, with work in subway tunnels and occasional sites in office buildings, garages and shops. Candidates must have grade 10 education, a valid Ontario G driver's license, be certifiable to wear breathing apparatus, pass a medical exam and pulmonary function test, and hold or obtain the Asbestos Abatement Worker (AAW) 253W certification. TTC training programs (e.g., Subway/SRT Rule Book, operation of TTC vehicles, dangerous goods transport, forklift, power fastener, scissor lift/power boom operations, fall arrest/safety harness, emergency first aid, WHMIS, CPR, power cut monitoring), and a solid knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code are required. Required Qualifications
- grade 10 education or its equivalent through practical experience
- valid, non-probationary Province of Ontario class "G" driver’s license in good standing
- certifiable to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program
- pass a medical exam and pulmonary function test
- have or successfully obtain the Asbestos Abatement Worker (AAW)253W certification as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- complete TTC training programs such as Subway/SRT Rule Book, operation of a TTC vehicle, transportation of dangerous goods, forklift, power fastener, scissor lift/power boom operations, fall arrest/safety harness, emergency first aid, WHMIS, CPR and power cut monitoring
- knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
