Asbestos Abatement Coordinator – Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary

Coordinate site assessments, abatement design, and environmental monitoring for asbestos and lead projects across Southern California. Prepare Phase 1 and 2 reports, review consultant findings, and survey sites to recommend mitigation methods for building materials. Conduct bulk sampling and wipe tests, plan removal or encapsulation, and track job progress using Maximo to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Investigate on-site incidents and update project tracking sheets while maintaining communication with Facilities departments and contractors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or any related field from a recognized college or university
  • Five (5) years full time paid professional construction experience on projects involving environmental (asbestos/lead) assessment, sampling, design, monitoring and abatement
  • 2 years full time paid professional construction experience on projects involving environmental (asbestos/lead) assessment, sampling, design, monitoring, and abatement PLUS a Certification from the State of CA as Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST)
  • Certification from the State of CA as Certified Asbestos Consultant
  • Must be available for weekend shifts

Desired Qualifications

  • Possession of Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) asbestos course certificates (Building Inspector, Management Planner, Contractor/Supervisor and Project Designer)
  • Possession of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Certification
  • Possession of CA Department of Health (CDPH) Lead certification (Inspector/Assessor/Project Monitor)
