As-Needed Stormwater Inspector

Job Summary
Conduct routine 30-day, semi-annual, pre-storm, storm event, and post-storm inspections to verify site compliance with the California NPDES Construction General Permit and SWPPP. Troubleshoot BMP issues, collect and analyze storm water and non-storm water samples, and complete SWPPP reporting forms. Communicate inspection results and compliance gaps with construction and client personnel while advising project management on BMP implementation. Facilitate SWPPP-related training for project staff. This variable-hour field role requires a minimum of two days per week and involves outdoor site visits in extreme weather and uneven terrain.
Required Qualifications
- A QSP/QSD certification
- Strong MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet skills
- Familiarity with Best Management Practice (BMP) and NPDES regulation knowledge
- Familiarity with construction job sites and plans
- Familiarity with field sampling equipment
- Capable of field work and walking on difficult terrain
- Must meet company defined, pre-employment, random, and annual alcohol/drug screen
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment
- Must be able to bend, squatting, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted; 50lbs in a team lift (two or more employees)
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- U.S. work authorization
Desired Qualifications
- Four (4) or more years of field storm water and/or construction experience
- inspection experience
- A QSD certification
- Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) certification (recommended but not required) or an equivalent qualified compliance inspector certification from EnviroCert International, Inc., or CISEC, Inc., or an equivalent accredited agency
- Hold a valid Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) credential or an equivalent qualified compliance inspector certification from EnviroCert International, Inc., or CISEC, Inc., or an equivalent accredited agency
- Access to a 4WD vehicle for use during inspections
