Job Summary
Conduct routine stormwater site inspections and post-storm inspections as specified in the Erosion Control Plan, verifying compliance with the Wisconsin Construction General Permit, Erosion Control Plan, and Stormwater Management Plan. Troubleshoot site compliance and Best Management Practice issues, collect and analyze stormwater and non-stormwater samples, and complete inspection reporting forms. Communicate site and BMP issues with construction and client personnel while advising project management on BMP implementation. Facilitate stormwater-related training for project staff. This as-needed field position requires a valid driver's license, active personal automobile liability insurance, and the ability to walk long distances in extreme weather. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $35.00/hourly.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience with field stormwater regulations, practical field experience, construction experience, or research experience
- Strong MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet skills
- Familiarity with Best Management Practice (BMP) and NPDES regulation knowledge
- Familiarity with construction job sites and plans
- Familiarity with field sampling equipment
- Capable of field work and walking long distances on potentially difficult terrain
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment
- A Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater-Wisconsin (QCIS) certification, or equivalent
- Certifications such as Certified Stormwater Inspector (CSI), CESSWI, CMS4S, CPESC, CISEC or an equivalent qualified compliance inspector certification from EnviroCert International, Inc., or CISEC, Inc., or an equivalent accredited agency
- 2022 EPA Construction General Permit Inspector Training Course
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment
- Must be capable of bending, squatting, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 35 lbs unassisted; 50lbs in a team lift
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- U.S. work authorization
