Job Summary
Teach arts and enrichment classes for all ages in group and individual settings, including fine arts, performing arts, drama, dance, music, science, writing, culinary, and travel. Plan and deliver specialized classes for active adults, parent/child, and tot programs, while managing birthday parties and special events offsite. Maintain a safe learning environment by visually and audibly supervising children and communicating effectively with participants, parents, and staff. This role requires one to three years of teaching experience, current AED/CPR and First Aid certifications, and a valid driver's license. Work part-time with flexible schedules at South Suburban recreation centers serving multiple counties.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment
- Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching art and/or enrichment
- Current AED/CPR and First Aid certifications
- Ability to develop and maintain a positive work relationship with program participants, parents of children, and staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents of children, and staff
- Ability to visually and audibly supervise children in a variety of situations
- Highly motivated and take direction well
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of child care programming
- Knowledge of recreation and its application
- Knowledge of safety and emergency first-aid procedures
- Knowledge of program management
- Knowledge of customer service principles
