Arts & Enrichment Ceramics/Pottery Instructor I - II

Job Summary

Plan and instruct ceramics and enrichment classes for all ages in group and individual settings, adapting techniques to varying skill levels. Teach wheel throwing and handbuilding, present art examples, and provide tools and raw materials for student projects. Manage course records, rosters, and supply inventory while ensuring safe classroom environments and enforcing program rules. Inspect equipment, perform required cleaning, and respond to public inquiries or emergency situations. Travel to offsite events to lead classes and attend staff meetings and trainings. Submit accident/incident reports and secure substitutes for scheduled shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • Arts & Enrichment Instructor I
  • Arts & Enrichment Instructor II
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience in art
  • At least two (2) years of professional teaching experience in art
  • Current certifications in AED/CPR and First Aid
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain a Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Insurable by the District carrier
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning techniques and methodologies
  • Knowledge of positive interaction techniques with children, students and their parents, adult and senior students, and staff
  • Ability to communicate verbally with both children and adults
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform the techniques unique to varying art disciplines
  • Upper body strength to lift/move a maximum of 25 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to lift/move a maximum of 75 pounds with assistance
  • Near acuity, far acuity, and depth perception
  • Color vision
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to talk and hear via the telephone, email, and through face-to-face communication
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to work in a busy office environment subject to continuous interruptions
  • Ability to occasionally work outside subject to variable weather, ecosystems and landscapes

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching art and/or enrichment
  • Current certifications in AED/CPR and First Aid
