Job Summary

Develop stories for broadcast and digital platforms covering arts, culture, and community issues in Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin. Research, prepare, and report balanced, issue-oriented stories while employing editorial judgment to select sources and conduct interviews. Edit audio and video to create broadcast spots, talk show segments, digital articles, and social media content, including vertical video. Collaborate with the communications team and editors on long-term and short-term multimedia projects, managing logistics from pre-production to post-production. Perform daily operational activities for live and pre-recorded content, directing editorial and creative processes as needed. Work weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends, traveling off-site for reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to discover and produce in-depth issue-oriented stories for broadcast and digital platforms
  • A bachelor's degree
  • One year of related experience
  • 5 years of experience in broadcast journalism

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of experience working specifically with or covering diverse populations, related to the arts and culture community
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Southeastern Wisconsin issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WUWM and/or public radio
  • Audio editing experience
  • Vertical video production experience
