Job Summary
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based art instruction aligned to Rhode Island and district curriculum expectations, introducing students to diverse artistic media, styles, and techniques. Integrate STEAM principles and utilize digital tools for expression while incorporating fundamental academic skills like reading, writing, and mathematics into lessons. Foster student discourse, collaboration, and inquiry within a safe, inclusive classroom culture that promotes high expectations and growth mindsets. Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress, provide timely feedback, and participate in collaborative analysis to improve instructional practices. Collaborate with colleagues, special educators, and administrators in Professional Learning Communities to support student success and district initiatives.

- Utilize technology and digital media as tools for artistic expression and learning
- Provide students with opportunities for choice, voice, and personal expression in their artistic work
- Incorporate fundamental academic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics into visual art lessons
- Foster student discourse, collaboration, inquiry, and productive struggle within the art classroom
- Implement instructional practices that support equitable access to rigorous learning opportunities for all students
- Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decision-making
- Provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families regarding academic performance and growth
- Participate in collaborative analysis of student work and performance data to improve instructional practices and student outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely student records in accordance with district expectations
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Promote positive student behavior, responsibility, self-advocacy, and perseverance
- Create a classroom culture characterized by high expectations, mutual respect, and a growth mindset
- Collaborate with colleagues, special educators, interventionists, school counselors, and administrators to support student success
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level teams, and school improvement efforts
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and community members regarding student progress and classroom expectations
- Support district initiatives related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and continuous improvement
