Job Summary
Art Director for Cancer Care Creative Strategy leads creative direction, campaign development, and enterprise-wide storytelling for MUSC’s cancer-care initiatives. The role translates clinical and research information into clear visual narratives across the patient journey, partners with writers, photographers, videographers, and digital teams, and oversees production from concept to delivery. The position manages art direction for designers, freelancers, and agencies, ensures adherence to brand standards, and collaborates across enterprise communications to deliver cohesive, cross-channel storytelling. Strong design leadership, conceptual thinking, proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, DAM systems, analytics, accessibility tools, and project-management platforms are required, along with a portfolio demonstrating brand identity, integrated campaigns, and scalable design systems. Education: Bachelor’s degree; 10+ years experience in graphic design/art direction with healthcare or academic environments; ability to lead strategy while contributing hands-on design; HIPAA and accessibility knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Design, or a related field
- 10+ years in graphic design, art direction, and creative leadership
- Experience collaborating with and directing external agencies
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements related to visual communications, accessibility standards, and inclusive design principles
