Job Summary
Conduct daily readiness and physical accountability for Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (A&E) assets at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor, WA. Verify eligibility, authorize breakout, and perform functional checks on weapons upon turn-in. Execute routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic repairs on small arms and crew-served weapons while monitoring intruder detection systems. Maintain strict compliance with OPNAVINST 5530.13D and conduct daily, monthly, and quarterly inventories to ensure zero loss of sensitive items. Coordinate receipt, storage, and issuance of munitions to support range operations and urban combat training. Manage inventory records, condition reports, and quality deficiency documentation in accordance with DOD, Marine, and Navy regulations. Provide monthly reports on weapons, optics, and equipment serial numbers. Requires Secret security clearance, valid driver's license, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one to three (1–3) years of experience in a military armory or law enforcement ordnance setting
- Hands-on experience with the disassembly, reassembly, and troubleshooting of standard-issue military firearms
- Practical experience following OPNAV or Marine Corps A&E regulations
- Enrollment in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), which requires high standards of mental and physical stability, ethical conduct, and emotional maturity
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Graduation from a service-specific Armorer Course or Small Arms Maintenance school
- Have written and oral communications abilities commensurate with this management role
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government Representative, and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
- Armory Technician is required to be on-site
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, protective-toe footwear, gloves, and hearing protection as required
- Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level
- US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location
