Job Summary
Maintain strict physical security and 100% accountability for NCIS weapons and ammunition by ensuring proper storage, receipt, storage, pacing, issue, and transfer of items from the Department of the Navy. Conduct assembly, disassembly, and cleaning of various NCIS weapons to ensure they remain in excellent working condition with no damaged parts. Assist with range operations by qualifying as a Range Safety Officer and Officer in Charge, while making recommendations to improve weapon management and accountability procedures. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to explosive handling procedures and storage specifications. Requires active DoD Secret clearance, ability to lift 65 pounds, and valid explosive driver's license for vehicles up to 2 1/2 tons. Located in Quantico, VA with minimal travel.
Required Qualifications
- ACTIVE Secret CLEARANCE
- Ordinance Explosive Physical Examination (hearing test, eye test, and physical capability test)
- active DoD SECRET clearance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to lift at least 65 pounds
- Must be able to qualify and maintain an explosive driver's license with vehicles up to at least 2 1/2 tons
- knowledge of Naval Ordnance and Small Arms Weapons
- understanding of ammunition handling procedures, storage specifications and requirements
- training in Explosive Safety
- training in physical security
- training in weapon maintenance
- training in AA&E
- Certification in maintenance of small arms (re-certification required every three years)
- Explosive Safety Qualification/Certification Program (re-certification required every three years)
- Explosive Drivers Course
- Must meet requirements of the National Agency Check (NAC)
