Job Summary
Armory Locksmith responsibilities include maintaining key control records, tracking keys checked in/out of central control, performing routine maintenance on keys and key rings, issuing new keys with detailed records, removing obsolete keys, and maintaining accurate inventory of keys stored in the armory. Ensure safe handling, storage, and accountability of firearms, chemical agents, and ammunition; verify staff authorization and certification prior to issuing firearms or chemicals; prepare and maintain reports/logs; promote appropriate behavior and maintain staff, inmate, and property accountability while adhering to safety protocols. Requires knowledge of firearms, firearm safety, and key control procedures; strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent organizational and time management abilities; proficiency with Microsoft Office; high school diploma or equivalent; locksmith certification preferred; 2+ years related experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Locksmith certification preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license, where applicable
- Successful completion of required training and on-the-job instruction in accordance with company standards
