Job Summary
Conduct security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle, monitoring entrances, exits, and departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure authorized property removal. Identify irregular conditions, warn violators of rule infractions, and sound alarms or notify police/fire for unauthorized persons or emergencies. Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports, and maintain required written logs. Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous manner while mediating conflicts with tact. Operate radio or telephone equipment and console monitors as necessary. Work irregular shifts with little to no advance notice, potentially requiring a background investigation and drug screen.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of verifiable experience
- Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle
- Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
- Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
- At least 18 years of age, or higher if required by the state (21 years, if armed)
- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
- Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Effective oral and written communication skills; able to write informatively, clearly, and accurately
- Active listening and problem-solving skills
- Assess and evaluate situations effectively; identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
- Teamwork
- Attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic)
- Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience
