Job Summary
Area Transmission Planner I at PacifiCorp in Salt Lake City, UT. Develops and evaluates transmission-system designs, analyses, and plans to ensure reliable, compliant operation under WECC/NERC standards. Performs moderately complex engineering studies, prepares plans/specifications/calculations/evaluations, recommends alternative solutions, manages outside engineering services, and contributes to staying on schedule and budget. Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, strong communication and cross-functional collaboration, and proficiency with power-flow/dynamic analysis tools, PI data management, Visio, and MS Office; familiarity with EMS/SCADA and WECC/NERC standards is preferred. The role may include opportunities for an advanced degree and incentive-based compensation; full-time position with an defined salary range and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations, the National Electric Codes.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calm.
- Demonstrated communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
- Proficient with the use of personal computers including automated tools and software applications including power flow and dynamic analysis, data base management (PI), Visio, Microsoft Office Suite including Access, and use of EMS or SCADA.
