Job Summary
Area Programme Manager will provide leadership, management and overall supervision of all project activities within the Arawa Area Programme to achieve World Vision Papua New Guinea’s strategic objectives and child wellbeing outcomes. Responsibilities include planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of programs within the Arawa region, ensuring activities are delivered within scope, time, budget and quality standards; day-to-day operational leadership; budget and resource management; grant management; compliance with financial and organisational standards; responding to audits and risks. The role engages with Portfolio Managers, Project Supervisors, government authorities, donors, partners and community stakeholders to ensure programs are responsive to local needs and aligned with organisational priorities. It contributes to project design, proposal development, community needs identification, policy engagement, advocacy and partnership building at area, district and provincial levels. People-centred leadership to staff, coaching, mentoring, performance management, learning, succession planning, employee relations, safeguarding, security and staff wellbeing. Arranges baseline activities, monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, child participation and appropriate case management to protect and promote children’s wellbeing. The position requires experience in NGO program management, budgeting, reporting and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and offers a competitive salary, benefits and career development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- A Master’s degree in a related field will be an added advantage
- At least five years of relevant experience, preferably in program management within an NGO or development context
- Experience in program management within a complex international organisation, preferably in an NGO context
- Knowledge and understanding of World Vision operations will be an added advantage
- Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a cross-cultural environment
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
- Demonstrated financial management skills
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
