Job Summary
Area Manager in the Locate division responsible for workload distribution, customer relations, and coordination with Corporate, IT and purchasing alongside homeowners and the public. Oversees disciplinary actions, inspections of vehicles/equipment, inventory ordering, and mentoring Supervisors for performance improvement. Assists in damage resolution, interprets reports (PDR, audits, production), supports difficult locate jobs, maintains loading requirements, conducts staff performance reviews, and travels as needed. Requires leadership in the locating industry, strong communication, and a comprehensive understanding of underground utility construction and placement; completes company Locate Technician training and may require long hours, travel, and occasional overnight stays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three to five years of experience
- Valid driver license
- Background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas
- Ability to pass random drug screens and remain drug free
- Computer literate
- Ability to locate
- Ability to effectively perform a PDR or damage investigation
- Excellent communications skills (oral and written)
- Experience in effective leadership in the locating industry
- Comprehensive understanding of underground utility construction and placement
- Successfully complete company-provided Locate Technician training program and pass all required testing
- Willingness to work long hours; weekend and holiday work when necessary
- Some travel including overnight stays and out-of-town assignments
