Job Summary
Area Manager for South-Central Area Office in Ethiopia, leading and managing multiple field/project offices, overseeing program operations across Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, FSL, and Child Protection. Responsibilities include developing area strategic plans, ensuring program quality and compliance, managing staff and budgets over multiple offices, coordinating with Country Office units (PDQ, HR, Finance, Safety & Security), maintaining strong partnerships with government and donors, and ensuring emergency preparedness and safeguarding across area operations. Requires a Master’s degree, 10+ years in NGO/corporate environments with 6+ years in senior leadership, strong strategic planning, financial management, staff development, and the ability to operate in a dynamic humanitarian setting.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Development Studies or related Social Sciences
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate or NGO environment
- At least 6 years in a senior leadership role or relevant experience
- Experience in strategic planning and operationalizing into achievable targets and outcomes
- Ability to drive and manage change; strive for continual improvement and organizational excellence
- Experience working within a complex, matrix organization structure
- Proven track record of developing leaders and managers
- Analytical skills to deal with complex problems and make strategic decisions
- Good understanding of humanitarian landscape, emergency management, and accountability frameworks (CHS, SPHERE)
- Strong financial and budgetary control experience; budget management and donor reporting
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options, and plan strategically
- National/international development context understanding
