Job Summary
Area Manager oversees workload distribution, customer relations, and coordination with corporate as well as IT/purchasing activities related to homeowners and the public. Responsible for disciplinary oversight, vehicle/equipment inspections, inventory ordering, mentoring Supervisors, damage resolution, report interpretation (PDR, audits, production), assisting in difficult locate jobs, maintaining load requirements, and conducting performance reviews for staff. Requires strong leadership in the locating industry, excellent communication, and comprehensive understanding of underground utility construction. Training program completion and occasional travel, including overnight stays, are required.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in effective leadership in the locating industry
- Excellent communications skills oral and written
- Comprehensive understanding of underground utility construction and placement
- Successfully complete company provided Locate Technician training program and pass all required testing
- Must have above average computer skills
- Able to travel including overnight stays/out-of-town assignments
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass random drug screens and to remain drug free
- Ability to locate
- Ability to interact with the public, customers, contractors, utility representatives and all those under their direction
- Experience in performance reviews for staff
- Strong load and resource planning
- Attention to safety and regulatory compliance
