Job Summary
Manage, staff, and schedule a team of Package Handlers and Lead Package Handlers to ensure quality standards and a safe, efficient working environment. Conduct pre-sort meetings to communicate daily goals, upcoming events, and safety priorities while monitoring employee progress, providing feedback, and addressing performance or attendance issues. Record and manage departures, arrivals, and volume flow from designated Linehauls, executing administrative duties such as safety training, operational audits, and end-of-shift reporting. Apply OSHA requirements and maintain a flexible schedule to support 24-hour operations, including weekends and holidays. Report directly to the Operations Manager to oversee all sort activities and volume within an assigned area.
Required Qualifications
- GED/Diploma
- BA/BS college degree in related discipline
- 2 years of industry experience
- 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience
- Ability to effectively evaluate and summarize data and present answers to questions
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft office and mathematical skills
- Effective communication skills including the ability to give honest, constructive feedback
- Experience with hiring, training, motivating, disciplining, and completing performance evaluations for employees
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to support 24-hour operations, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays when needed
- Ability to stay dependable and adaptable as business needs, staffing needs, and workload shifts
