Job Summary
Review and understand all contracts to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction while maintaining ongoing client contact to strengthen relations. Attend monthly meetings to review financials, set goals, and collaborate on efficient operations. Develop tools to measure growth, evaluate financial performance, and prepare weekly reports for each project. Communicate daily with Project Managers to organize work and identify specific project needs. Maintain strong relationships with city officials, contractors, and the public. Attend customer meetings to handle service problem resolutions and prepare comprehensive reports for council or board as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Must reside in the state of Alabama
- A minimum of an Alabama Grade 3 Wastewater Certification
- 5 years' experience in Public Works (specifically water distribution, natural gas distribution, WWTP, collections)
- 5 years' experience at a supervisory level
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to operate equipment
- have vision sufficient to operate equipment
- have hearing in the normal range with or without correction
- In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height including items which may be bulky or awkward
- climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance
- carry a 50-pound tool box
- use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts
- work in confined places
- wear and use appropriate safety equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Additional State Certifications Preferred (Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Natural Gas, Public Works)
- Knowledge in municipal public works such as planning, design, maintenance, and construction
- Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in municipal public works operations
- Knowledge in principles of budget preparation and expenditure control
- Knowledge in Principles of Effective Management Skills
- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and implement municipal public works and utility programs/projects
- Ability to analyze organizational and administrative problems, recommend alternative courses of action, and provide leadership to others in implementing such actions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
