Job Summary
Develop a preventative maintenance system and carry out planned activities to ensure concrete plants operate safely and reliably. Execute hands-on plant improvements, quickly fault-find and respond to unplanned shutdowns, and coordinate repairs for ready mix concrete plants. Assist area management in programming scheduled maintenance, managing site defect logs, and ensuring cost-effective spare ordering. Undertake risk assessments, liaise daily with operations to prioritize repairs, and supervise third-party workers. Eliminate preventable breakdowns while maintaining a zero-harm culture. This mobile role requires travel between sites in the East of England, including Newmarket, Thetford, and Norwich, on a 48-hour week with overtime. A company van is provided for travel.
Required Qualifications
- Experience and understanding of mechanical fitting and maintenance of equipment including conveyors, pumps, pipes, valves, filter systems, pneumatics hydraulics bearings, gear boxes etc.
- Welding and burning for fabrication and maintenance
- Use of pulling and lifting equipment
- Experienced in the use of workshop equipment
- Mechanical fault finding
- Competency in basic Multi Skilling
- Essential experience working on heavy plant, fixed and/or mobile approach
- Ability to remain composed under pressure
- Good understanding of health safety and environmental impacts of role
- Ability to quickly fault find and respond to any unplanned plant shutdowns
- Undertake risk assessment and associated paperwork, where required, of the relevant activities to ensure a suitable and effective safe system of work
- Ability to communicate effectively

- Ideal candidate will live within an hour of the following locations Newmarket Thetford Norwich Beccles Flixton
- This role is based on 48 hours per week with overtime
- This is a mobile role and so you will be required to be highly self-motivated and flexible in your approach
- You will be based at one of our sites in East of England region with regular travel to other sites
- You will be required to cover our sites in the East and East Anglia region to attend breakdowns and for preventative maintenance
