Job Summary
Direct all aspects of sales and marketing for hotels within a designated area, including analyzing strategic objectives, achieving business growth, and managing staff, accounting, budgeting, asset protection, and inventory control. Recommend sales budgets, marketing plans, and capital expenditures while aligning operations with general management, brand standards, and local regulations. Meet and exceed financial goals through prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, and closes, while directly managing assigned staff and indirectly overseeing subordinates. Articulate company goals to the team, maintain quality service standards, and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment requiring periodic travel.
Required Qualifications
- High school education
- Degree in sales & marketing, hospitality management or related major
- Five or more years of related experience
- Familiarity with hospitality industry practices
- Substantial and successful track record in profitable sales management
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting
- Ability to compile facts/figures and analyze information that involves data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions
- Ability to anticipate and identify issues and exercise initiative to investigate, interpret and weigh alternatives to reach logical conclusions and make sound business decisions
- Knowledge of hospitality, business and basic accounting principles and practices
- Effective listening, verbal, written, negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to assess customer needs, understand market dynamics and prepare presentations/proposals tailored for individual customers
- Ability to meet/exceed expectations for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes
- Ability to achieve customer satisfaction
- Ability to effectively and efficiently schedule, manage and delegate work
- Ability to effectively interview, hire, motivate, develop, monitor and address staff performance matters
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft office
- Ability to travel when needed
- Must satisfy and comply with the legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Periodic travel
