Job Summary
Ensure efficient procurement practices for parts and services by obtaining materials at the best cost consistent with Total Cost of Ownership principles. Analyze quotations, select or recommend suppliers, schedule deliveries, and follow up to expedite shipment while evaluating supplier performance. Generate SAP purchasing documents for vendors, verify receipt confirmations, and initiate communication with site requisitioners, storeroom personnel, Accounting, and Operations to reconcile discrepancies and fulfill site requirements. Inputs and maintains material and vendor masters, prepares regular purchasing reports, and ensures all records comply with legal, company, and quality policies. Seeks to streamline work for personal and stakeholder benefit while performing assigned project work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- Must be highly self-motivated, persistent and able to cope with requirements of a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to develop and maintain business relationships
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Positive and proactive attitude, ability to work independently and take initiative
- Professional communication and strong organizational skills
- Fluency in oral and written English
- Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing protocols
- Manufacturing knowledge/experience
- Knowledge of continuous improvement philosophy and processes
- Working knowledge of suppliers and Supply Chain relationships
- Knowledge of drivers within Supply Chain that affect the performance of suppliers
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate the ability to apply appropriate conflict management strategies
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a variety of internal and external customers
- Organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Attention to detail will be a requirement
- Can apply a variety of negotiating tactics and is able to negotiate win/win agreements without compromising principles
- Uses quality management skills to ensure all procedures and work activities conform to work specifications and standards
- Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously
- Ability to multi-task with an ability to prioritize changing workload requests
- Exhibit a positive and proactive attitude with high initiative

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and is frequently exposed to wet and or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, petroleum products, toxic or caustic chemicals, petroleum products, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud
Desired Qualifications
- Purchasing Certification preferred
- 3+ years of successful Buyer experience preferred within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Manufacturing knowledge/experience; experience in a similar industry is preferred
- SAP experience is preferred
