Area 3 Elementary Schools_ Teacher, Reading Specialist (Flat Shoals ES) responsibilities include implementing and delivering high-quality instruction to diverse learners, promoting high academic expectations, collaborating with team members, and communicating effectively with students, families, and district personnel. The role encompasses planning and delivering in-person and virtual instruction aligned to district and state standards, assessing student progress, managing classroom environment, supervising paraprofessional staff, and providing specialized instruction (including Special Education services and IEP coordination where applicable). Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree, a valid teaching certificate, and required endorsements in Special Education and related areas; experience with ESOL/Gifted certifications is expected; CT AE qualifications, ethics assessment, and industry experience may be required for applicable roles. The position emphasizes adherence to Georgia professional standards, data-informed instruction, collaboration with teachers and administrators, and commitment to student success and global citizenship.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field
- Valid Professional Standards Commission-approved teaching certificate in the appropriate educational field
- Special Education: Special education teachers who issue grades must hold appropriate certification in service (e.g., special education, adaptive curriculum, and/or special education general curriculum); content certification areas and the educator's teaching assignment must align with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved teaching certificate
- ESOL & Gifted: Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved subject-specific endorsements required
- Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE): Minimum education requirements based on CTAE Specializations; must pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment; Minimum two (2) years of verifiable industrial work experience; Industry licensure required
