Job Summary
Facilitate Annual, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, manage agendas, and ensure federal and state timelines are met while monitoring Individualized Education Plan (IEP) implementation. Schedule or assist in scheduling ARD meetings, establish guidelines, and use facilitation techniques to resolve disagreements and keep committees on task. Implement systematic communication between special and general education personnel regarding IEPs, accommodations, and instructional progress. Support student achievement by collaborating with teachers to address deficiencies, monitor instructional alignment, and offer changes to improve program effectiveness. Serve as parent liaison on assessment and eligibility matters, compile required reports, and provide orientation to new staff on ARD processes. Ensure compliance with state and federal laws while maintaining positive relationships with principals, staff, and families.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of state and federal laws for educating students with disabilities
- Understanding of the individual needs of students with disabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents and staff
- Ability to implement policies and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Three years of teaching students with disabilities and participation in ARD meetings
- Occasional districtwide and statewide travel
- Occasional light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
