Job Summary
Coordinate and implement the special education IEP process, including scheduling and conducting Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings. Lead ARD committee meetings regarding the development of Individual Education Plans and appropriate placement of eligible students. Ensure all federal, state, and district requirements are met while distributing notices, reviewing assessments, and requesting necessary signatures on IEP documents. Work collaboratively with administrators, school psychologists, and parents to make recommendations for educational programming based on student goals and required services. Maintain accuracy in PEIMS coding and transfer paperwork, ensuring all required documents are distributed in a timely manner. Comply with Orenda's policies and participate in performance improvement activities while protecting student confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Special Education
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate
- Special Education Certificate
- Two years teaching experience
- Experience teaching students with disabilities
- Some district-wide travel to multiple work locations
- Regularly lifts and carries 1 - 50 pounds
- Required high level of mental alertness
- Ability to tolerate high levels of stress
