Job Summary

Inventory and analyze the 15 boxes of Bob McManus historical collection materials, including official documents, reports, manuals, and photographs. Assess physical condition and historical content to determine value and suitability for permanent retention. Apply preservation techniques and digitize maps and documents, then store materials in the FTA History Hub while preparing indexes and meta-tags. Assist archive users with information retrieval and support presentations that make the collection accessible to employees, stakeholders, and the public. Author articles about FTA history for publication and update historical information on agency websites. This role supports the Federal Transit Administration's headquarters in Washington, DC, ensuring historically valuable materials are preserved and made available for research and public access.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of relevant archivist and/or records-management experience
  • 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20590
  • Telework is not authorized
  • No travel required
  • Employment Classification Eligibility—Exempt
  • Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time
