Job Summary
Lead and mentor an architecture team, managing staffing, workloads, and resource allocation to ensure efficient project delivery. Serve as the primary client contact and trusted advisor, facilitating communication with owners, consultants, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction while leading design reviews and progress updates. Drive project performance from proposal award through completion, overseeing quality management, budget tracking, change orders, and monthly invoicing. Represent AECOM at industry events and contribute to practice growth through business development and client engagement. This hybrid role in Chicago, IL, requires a licensed architect with 8+ years of experience to support the Great Lakes Buildings + Places team in delivering high-quality design solutions across diverse market sectors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or related field
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Professional licensure in field of study
- Valid driver's license
- 15+ years of experience at a large architectural firm
- 5+ years in project management and leadership
- Core & Shell Project management experience
- Experience in one or more specialized markets (workplace, justice, federal, transit, aviation, healthcare)
- Experience with multiple delivery methods: CM/GC, DB, DBROM, PPP, EPC/EPCM
- Familiarity with risk management, contract negotiations, and dispute resolution
- Detail-oriented, thorough, well-organized; excellent time management
- Experience supporting proposals, pursuits, and client interviews
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong client management skills with a demonstrated ability to grow existing and new client relationships
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Experience contributing to thought leadership through panels, presentations, or publications
- In-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location
