Job Summary
Lead preparation of architectural specifications for complex projects, providing oversight to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with project teams to develop strategic approaches for material selection, sustainability, and constructability while researching and integrating the latest building technologies and regulatory requirements. Develop and refine master specifications, train junior team members, and coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve specification-related challenges. Ensure projects adhere to budgetary constraints and identify cost-effective material solutions. Represent the firm in professional industry organizations to contribute thought leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture
- Licensed to practice architecture in a minimum of one U.S. state
- 10+ years of experience in architectural specifications writing
- Advanced knowledge of CSI MasterFormat
- Expertise in building codes
- Expertise in sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL)
- Expertise in industry regulations
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality specifications on time
- Working knowledge of office network
- Web research abilities associated with the responsibilities
- Understanding of how project manuals are produced
- Familiarity with Word, Bluebeam, and Adobe software
Desired Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Architecture
- Licensed to practice architecture in a minimum of one U.S. state
- CSI CDT Certification
- CSI CCS Certification
- Leadership experience
- Experience working on large-scale, high-profile projects across multiple sectors
- In-depth knowledge of emerging trends in materials, construction technology, and sustainability practices
- Experience with integrated project delivery methods, including design-build and GC/CM contracts
- Proficient with verbal and written communication skills
- Solid skills with Integrus standard computer programs
- Active membership in the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
