Job Summary
The Architectural Building Technology (Sessional Faculty) role at LaSalle College Vancouver involves teaching and mentoring within the Architectural Building Technology program, managing multiple course sections, designing and delivering curriculum and assessments, and supporting student success. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, administration (attendance, grading, academic integrity), providing student advising and accommodations in collaboration with Academic Advisors and Student Services, engaging in community and program activities, participating in faculty development and program reviews, and ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies (DQAB, PTIB). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; have knowledge of architectural design, construction methods, building systems, and sustainability; proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM platforms, and Microsoft Office 365; and possess professional experience in the field. The position emphasizes student-centered teaching, collaboration with faculty and industry, and commitment to inclusion, equity, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Architecture, Architectural Science, Building Technology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Sustainable Building Design, Architectural Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related and progressively responsible industry and/or post-secondary teaching experience.
- Previous teaching experience in higher education and/or formal instructor training is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of architectural design principles, construction methods, building systems, building science, sustainability, construction documentation, and applicable building codes.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM platforms, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Understanding of current industry trends, emerging technologies, digital construction workflows, and sustainable building practices.
- Professional registration, certification, or membership with a recognized professional association is considered an asset.
