Job Summary
Architectural & Building Technologist role with J.S. Held in Vancouver, BC, focused on architectural/building technologies. Responsibilities include reviewing design/shop drawings for Building Code compliance, preparing code compliance drawings/reports/letters/alternative solutions, conducting site reviews and field review reports, and attending meetings/presentations/occupancy demonstrations. Requires a graduated Technician/Technologist with focus in Architectural and Building Technologies; proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD LT, SketchUp, Excel, and Word; knowledge of Building Code Parts 3 and 9; strong communication and drafting-read skills; valid BC driver’s license; ability to work on a hybrid schedule in Vancouver and travel across BC and Canada; benefits offered including remote work options when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated Technician or Technologist with educational focus in Architectural and Building Technologies (experience in Civil, Mechanical and Structural disciplines is an asset).
- Experience using Bluebeam, Adobe, AutoCAD LT, Sketchup, Excel, Word, etc.
- Knowledge of Parts 3 and/or 9 of the Building Code.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
- Ability to read and interpret building design drawings (drafting skills are an asset).
- Hold a valid BC Driver’s License.
- Must be able to commute and work in person on a hybrid schedule in our Vancouver office.
- Must be able to travel to different regions within British Colombia, and across Canada.
