Job Summary
Archaeological Field Technician (Temporary Full Time) based in Waldron, AR, supporting in-field analysis and scientific studies. Responsibilities include writing detailed daily field notes, photographing artifacts, mapping discovery locations, operating GPS for navigation, recognizing and documenting pre-contact and historic period artifacts, performing shovel tests, and documenting archaeological sites. Work involves challenging terrain and inclement conditions, with extensive outdoor fieldwork, long hours, and irregular schedules. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology or related field, field-school experience, and the ability to write field notes, map locations, and operate GPS; heavy lifting and physical endurance are expected. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology or closely related field
- completion of an accredited field school
- 0-1 years demonstrated experience in Phase I archaeology
- Demonstrated experience in shovel testing and pedestrian surveys
- Ability to write detailed daily field notes
- Ability to operate GPS for navigation and mapping
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
