Job Summary
Teach piano basics, music theory, and sight-reading to a 12-year-old girl and her 8-year-old brother in 45- and 15-minute weekly sessions. Connect lessons to her singing interests by teaching accompaniments to pop, jazz, and Broadway songs, while introducing chord progressions and songwriting concepts. Play pieces for the students to model excellent musicianship and instill enthusiasm for new genres. Maintain an encouraging, enthusiastic teaching style that keeps young students engaged. Ideally, you are a local pianist with strong jazz and Broadway repertoire knowledge, available to start ASAP.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent pianist with a genuine love of music
- Strong knowledge of jazz and Broadway repertoire
- Experience or comfort teaching young students, especially with a focus on building confidence
