Job Summary
Recruit, train, and schedule lifeguards and swim instructors while managing daily lifeguard coverage, swim lessons, and facility maintenance. Enforce department policies, answer patron inquiries, and direct users to appropriate staff. Lead the development and implementation of Learn to Swim, water safety, and aquatic health programs. Act as the primary representative for the Aquatic Program, facilitating user groups and assisting with facility cleaning. Monday–Friday shifts (6:00am–6:00pm) with a monthly Saturday session. Requires an Associate degree, American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certifications, and two years of aquatics leadership experience. Competitive hourly wage of $18.50–$20.50.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with CPR/AED/FA
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Aquatics, preferably in some type of leadership capacity
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience developing, implementing and managing community activities and events
- Must be self-motivated, able to stay on task with minimal supervision
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and complete assigned tasks
- Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test
- Monday–Friday: work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 6:00am–6:00pm
- Saturday: 10:00am–3:00pm (approximately 1 time per month)
Desired Qualifications
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT)
- Certified Pool Operator Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field
- Experience with Swim meet event management
- Experience teaching Water Exercise/Fitness classes
- Ability to be a positive role model for staff and patrons
