Job Summary
Provide lifeguard coverage, lead private and group swim instruction, and maintain a safe environment at indoor pools and outdoor waterfronts. Implement the YMCA's nationally recognized swim lesson curriculum while supporting aquatic programming for infants, youth, teens, and adults. Assess skill levels and adapt instruction to ensure participants progress safely through each level. Obtain Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor certifications within 90 days. Requires minimum 21 years of age, high school diploma, and ability to work up to 20 hours per week in chlorinated water. Full-time role with paid training, professional development, and advancement opportunities across seven locations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to obtain the Lifeguard Instructor certification and Swim Instructor certifications within 90 days
- Must be physically and mentally capable of demonstrating the skills required for certifications
- Must be able to be exposed to chlorine and other pool chemicals
- Must be able to be exposed to pool water for up to 20 hours per week
- Physically and mentally acts appropriately and immediately to unexpected circumstances
