Job Summary
Aquatics Manager leads the Town of Westwood's aquatics facility operations, supervising staff and volunteers, overseeing swim programs and rentals, managing budgets, and ensuring safety and excellent customer service. Responsibilities include hiring/training staff, delivering swim lessons and certifications, developing and executing aquatics programming (including specialty programs and swim teams), coordinating with Recreation staff on events, overseeing pool maintenance and safety compliance, scheduling and contracting services, monitoring revenues and program performance, maintaining records and permits, and representing the department at community events. The role requires hands-on involvement in daily operations, a collaborative approach with a small team, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to respond to emergencies. Nights and weekends are required. Certification prerequisites include WSI, Lifeguard CPR/AED, and First Aid, with CPO preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with four years of aquatics/recreation experience and two years in supervisory roles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in aquatics, recreation, or related field, including at least two (2) years of supervisory or lead staff experience
- Experience teaching swim lessons, coaching aquatic programs, or delivering aquatics instruction
- Current Water Safety Instructor Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- First Aid Certification
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred
- Valid driver's license
