Job Summary
Lead the Aquatics Team to monitor water quality and maintain life-support equipment across zoo facilities. Responsibilities include directing daily activities and supervising Aquatics/Life Support Staff, maintaining water chillers, filtration, ozone, UV systems, and water chemistry; scheduling and mentoring Technicians; identifying system issues and guiding root-cause analysis; coordinating with Zoological Managers, Animal Curators, and Veterinary staff; and actively performing water quality testing as part of the Life Support Team to support animal welfare and exhibit operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED plus two years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- AALSO Level 1 certification or ability to become certified within 12 months of hire
- Pool operator certification or ability to become certified within 6 months of hire
- EPA Type I/II/III or Universal technician certification as required by law (if applicable)
