Job Summary
Oversee daily aquatic programming staffing, safety, and membership for the center while supervising part-time staff, Lifeguards, and Swim Instructors. Enforce pool regulations regarding showers, food, drink, and conduct, and maintain accurate records per the CT Health Department Sanitary Code. Assist with daily scheduling, staff trainings, and teaching swimming lessons or Life Guarding as needed. Secure substitute lifeguards when unable to fulfill assigned duties and learn all emergency procedures. Report 15 minutes prior to scheduled hours in proper uniform and maintain all required certifications. Ensure the premises remain clean and sanitary while attending all required staff meetings and in-services.
Required Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- current YMCA Life guarding or Red Cross Life guarding
- At least 2 years of experience teaching children and adults swimming lessons
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification
- AED certification
- Oxygen Administration certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 30 pounds in weight
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations
- Physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
Desired Qualifications
- 4 year degree preferred or work experience equivalency
- LGI Trainer certification to be obtained within first year
