Job Summary

Oversee Aquatics Department operations at the North Suburban YMCA in Woburn, MA, including development and management of programs such as Lifeguarding, Parent & Child, Preschool, Youth, Private and Adult Lessons, Family Swim, Rentals/Pool Parties, and Competitive/Precompetitive swim; ensure health and safety standards, including water chemistry, temperature, and testing; hire, train, supervise, and evaluate paid staff and volunteers, ensuring certifications are current; lead staff in CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen training; prepare payroll reports; monitor registrations and participant records; maintain professional image aligned with YMCA mission; participate in leadership meetings and collaborate across the Association Aquatics Team; support building EAP and safety initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • YMCA Lifeguarding certification
  • At least two years experience in instruction and management of a wide variety of Aquatics programs and pool maintenance
  • Experience supervising staff and developing pool schedules and class schedules
  • Must be aware of YMCA movement and trends in the aquatic field and must continue to enhance his/her knowledge in YMCA Aquatic Management and certifications
  • If Red Cross certified, the employee must cross over to YMCA certification within six months of hire
