Job Summary
Manage Aquatics Programs, staff, and safety on the pool deck by supervising lifeguards, enforcing rules, and conducting safety checks. Prevent accidents through preventive life guarding techniques and respond to emergencies with water rescue, CPR, and first aid procedures. Coordinate swim lessons, marketing, and new program development while controlling the departmental budget and ensuring compliance with YMCA and state codes. Maintain accurate records for chemical readings, equipment inspections, and participant attendance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1-3 years of Aquatics program / Lifeguarding experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be organized and detail oriented
- Bilingual, English and Spanish
- Certified Pool Operator
- Swim Instructor Certified
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- AED
- Basic First Aid Certifications
- Current Certification: Red Cross Lifeguarding OR YMCA Lifeguarding Certification
- Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental alertness
- Attainment of Oxygen Certification within 90 days of hire
- Attainment of CPO Certification within one year of hire
- Submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprint background screening
- Successfully complete a drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Daxko software program, preferred
- Avid swimmer, passionate about the sport of swimming, dedicated to the cause of water safety and drowning prevention
- High-energy personality, outgoing and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Natural leader with a competitive drive and desire to grow
- Comfortable with public speaking
- Innate desire to provide excellent customer service to participants, which will result in an exceptional aquatic experience
- Current Certification: Red Cross Lifeguarding OR YMCA Lifeguarding Certification, preferred
