Job Summary

Plan, organize, and evaluate aquatic programs while orienting, training, and supervising paid and volunteer staff. Schedule and oversee lifeguard and instructor personnel, reviewing staff and class rosters in consultation with the Aquatic Director. Teach and guard as needed, answer member inquiries, and oversee safety training, drills, and documentation. Maintain facility equipment records, assist in purchasing supplies, and implement special events. Participate in branch management meetings and remain current on YMCA training and certifications. Requires active YMCA Lifeguard certification, two years of aquatic instruction and management experience, and an Associates or Bachelor's degree. Full-time role with comprehensive benefits including free membership.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Lifeguard Certifications (ex. YMCA, Red Cross)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • YMCA Lifeguarding certification
  • If Red Cross certified, the employee must cross over to YMCA certification within six months of hire
  • At least two years experience in instruction and management of a wide variety of Aquatics programs and pool maintenance
  • Experience supervising staff and developing pool schedules and class schedules
  • Good member relation and staff relation skills
  • Awareness of YMCA movement and trends in the aquatic field
  • Continued enhancement of knowledge in YMCA Aquatic Management and certifications
  • YMCA Lifeguarding or ARC certification
  • Minimum of 1 years aquatic experience
  • Child Abuse Prevention training (within first four weeks of employment)
  • Respect in Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention) training
  • Listen First training
  • Creating the Member Experience training
  • YSL training
  • Adult Learning Concepts training
  • Facilitation Skills training
  • Orientation to the Y Training System
  • YLGI or ASHI instructor certification
  • Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
