Job Summary
Coordinate aquatics programs and supervise seasonal staff, volunteers, and contract instructors while managing payroll and performance evaluations. Administer contracts for instructors, review course content for compliance, and ensure facility safety, cleanliness, and order. Collect and account for registration fees using District software, respond to customer inquiries, and resolve complaints independently. Develop marketing materials, prepare administrative reports, and provide specialized skills training including lifeguarding and water safety procedures. Perform swimming rescues and first aid as needed, and execute special projects assigned by the Recreation Services Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade
- Two (2) years of responsible experience performing program coordination and/or staff support to public recreation services and programs
- A valid class C California Driver's license
- A satisfactory driving record
- A current American Red Cross First Aid certificate
- Ability to obtain a current American Red Cross First Aid certificate within the first three months of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced educational training in physical education, public recreation planning and administration or a closely related field
- A current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate
- A current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (LGT) certificate
- A current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED, Oxygen and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) certificate
- A current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certificate
- Ability to obtain a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certificate within the first six months of employment
- A current Certified Pool Operators (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certificate
- Ability to obtain a current Certified Pool Operators (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certificate within the first six months of employment
