Job Summary
Aquatic Instructor I responsible for planning, teaching, and evaluating high-quality swimming and water-safety lessons, while providing excellent safety supervision and guest service. Role involves instructing learn-to-swim and related aquatic programs, applying effective class-management techniques, performing emergency first aid and assisting lifeguards during major emergencies, completing administrative tasks, attending quarterly trainings, and meeting Lifesaving Society standards. Shifts are part-time (approx. 3 shifts weekly, 3–4 hours per shift) across two leisure centres, with schedule windows from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and mandatory vulnerability/check clearances on hire. Assets include relevant certifications and practicum experience; Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Required Qualifications
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification
- AB Workplace Approved Intermediate First Aid
- National Lifeguard – Pool Certification
- First Aid Instructor/Examiner Certification
- Lifesaving Society Trainer
- Swim Instructor practicum experience
