Job Summary
Aquatic Coordinator at Hammond YMCA supports aquatic programming, staff supervision, onboarding and training, payroll processes, donor engagement, and community relations while ensuring safety and lifesaving readiness. Responsibilities include program development and expansion, shift supervision (80% direct service), recruiting and developing team members, conducting feedback and evaluations, and responding to member/inquiry requests. Must hold Lifeguard or Swim Instructor Certification and be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years related experience preferred
- Must hold either a current nationally recognized Swim Instructor Certification or Lifeguard Certification
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented
- Adept computer skills in Office 365
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekend, and holidays. Required to be On-Call with predetermined schedule
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Maintain Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Certifications
- Obtain Certified Trainer in Lifeguarding and/or Swim Instruction within designated time
