Job Summary
Conduct husbandry care for animals at Bass Pro Store by SCUBA diving to clean aquariums, performing scheduled fish feeding shows, and servicing the entire Life Support System. Analyze water quality via instrument testing, maintain animal life support systems including plumbing and pumps, and prepare and distribute diets. Perform biopsies, assist in identifying parasites, and provide objective reporting on animal behavior and health. Assist in record keeping for exhibits and hold tanks while traveling to local sights for maintenance and supply pickup. Requires a certified Scuba diver with First Aid/CPR/AED certification, clean driving record, and ability to lift 100 pounds. Starting pay is $23.00-$25.75 for part-time hours with flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Scuba diver (must provide copy of dive certification)
- Certified First Aid / CPR / AED
- Clean driving record and must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check
- Ability to observe and act upon relevant changes in animal behaviors and conditions
- Adaptability with a changing schedule when working with animals
- Understanding of practical principles of animal behavior and the ability to work with live animals safely
- Demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot a system with a systematic approach to problem solving
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings and holidays
- Ability to lift, push or pull 100 pounds
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop
- Periodic travel to support Bass Pro Shops collection management
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with elasmobranchs preferred
- Limited mechanical and plumbing experience preferred
