Job Summary
Deliver lectures and manage classroom activities and assessments primarily in English, occasionally in French, while building and maintaining the course site in the university's learning management system. Integrate relevant theoretical, conceptual, and terminological content in Canadian law with instruction on translation, selecting source texts appropriate to student levels and providing detailed feedback on exercises to develop critical thinking skills. Coordinate with the Chair and colleagues to maintain program learning outcomes and coherence. Requires professional-level language skills in English (active) and French (passive), a Master's degree in Translation or Translation Studies, and extensive experience as a French to English legal translator in a Canadian context.
Required Qualifications
- Professional-level language skills in English (active) and French (passive)
- Master's degree in Translation or Translation Studies
- membership in a recognized association or order of professional translators in the French to English language combination
- equivalent academic and professional experience
- Extensive professional experience as a French to English legal translator in a Canadian context
- University-level teaching experience
- University-level training in Law
