Job Summary
APS Investigator Specialist I protects elderly and disabled adults who cannot protect themselves; conducts investigations into abuse/neglect/exploitation, interviews clients/families, provides services and referrals, determines appropriate actions, develops service plans, maintains documentation, conducts community outreach and presentations, and may lead in supervisor's absence. Requires ability to travel extensively in field, work outside standard hours, and maintain safety in diverse environments. Training and certification programs are available; position requires reliable vehicle and valid Texas driver’s license. Master’s Degree in Social Work qualifies for an automatic starting salary increase.
Required Qualifications
- Adult Protective Services Investigator Specialist I requires: an accredited Bachelor's degree OR accredited Associate's degree plus two (2) years of relevant work experience OR 60 accredited college credit hours plus two (2) years relevant work experience OR 90 accredited college credit hours plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- For Investigator Specialist II: same as I with additional advancement criteria.
- For Investigator Specialist III/IV: same base requirements with progression criteria and certifications.
- Experience in social, human, or protective services is relevant.
- Employed in related role or certification may advance levels.
