Job Summary
Assess patient physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, and diagnostic studies while writing prescriptions and determining eligibility for clinical trials. Interpret study findings, relay care information to physicians, and administer therapeutic measures or obtain specimens as prescribed. Dictate follow-up letters, patient history, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes in a timely manner. Conduct daily multi-disciplinary rounds, triage patients to determine evaluation urgency, and manage family dynamics during acute and chronic care phases. Provide on-call coverage, perform hospital rounds, assist in crisis situations, and meet with the public to promote cancer treatment. Comply with federal and state laws, maintain accurate documentation using appropriate forms, and ensure equipment safety and record confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master's degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
- 0 - 3 Years Licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
- Certification from American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC)
- BLS certified
- Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward objectives that contribute to the successful treatment of patients
- Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patients' status, health care procedure / techniques and to monitor quality of patient care
- Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while performing duties is essential
- Analysis & Critical Thinking
- Strong interpersonal skills to include effective verbal and written communication
- Solid time management with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to collaborate across various levels of management, departments and teams
- Comfortable negotiating problems and exploring solutions with physician population
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and to remain flexible in the changing health care environment
- Will be expected to work at any FCS location to help meet FCS business needs as directed by collaborating physician
- Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be available for weekend shifts
